The Leyte II Electric Cooperative (Leyeco II) stated that the restoration of power supply in two villages - Caibaan and Cogon in San Jose district, the Philippines will be difficult after the theft of two transformers in their state-run service area, the Philippines News Agency reports.
Leyeco II general manager Ma. Rosario Avestruz asked the local officials to cooperate in order to secure power transformers in their barangays.
"I am calling for the cooperation and participation of the barangay officials to help The Cooperative in safeguarding the transformers in their barangay so that it is easier for us to restore their electric power supply,"Avestruz said.
She added that The Cooperative will have problems finding the replacements, and as a result, will have difficulties restoring power in the area.
Power is still being restored in parts of the Visayas, battered by Yolanda which devastated the country on the 8th November.
The Department of Energy has the 24th December deadline to restore power to Yolanda-hit areas.
