Transformer on fire at Kansas City power plant

USA, Kansas City: Kansas City firefighters are responding to a transformer fire that broke out at Kansas City Power & Light's Hawthorn power plant.

The utility said the fire broke out at the power plant substation, reports KMBC.

The fire spread to an outbuilding on the property, releasing a heavy black smoke that could be seen for miles.

No injuries have been reported.
