USA, Florida: Two transportation workers were seriously injured while assisting the move of a 150-ton power transformer from Riverview to Lakeland Electric's McIntosh Power Plant in Florida.
One of the injured workers was walking alongside the 91-metre trailer when he tripped on a raised concrete lane marker and fell into the path of a wheel, reports The Ledger.
The other worker tried to help him and was also struck by the trailer which was traveling at about 3 kilometres per hour.
The 400-ton transformer successfully reached the McIntosh plant and is expected to be in service by the end of December.
Then unit was purchased from Tampa Electric Co. to return its Unit 5 generator to service. The original transformer failed in early October, but it could be more than a year to manufacture and deliver a new transformer.
