Zimbabwe, Midlands: Chegato High, the biggest secondary school in Mberengwa with over 1,000 students, may close down in the next few weeks due to critical water shortages caused by the destruction of power lines that supply power to the boreholes.
Zesa, the utility in charge, has informed the community that repairing works may take three months as they require installation of a new transformer and power lines before power can be restored, reports Bulawayo 24.
School Development Association Chairman said the situation was very serious as Chegato is a large community with over 1,000 students and 100 teachers and their families. Before any works can begin, a comprehensive report has to be sent to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education before a final decision on further steps is made.
