Bhutan, Sarpang: In an attempt to generate specialised and skilled human resources in the power sector, Jigme Wangchuk Power Training Institute in Gelephu, Bhutan, has launched its first three specialised training courses.
The specialist courses include repair and maintenance of transformers, transmission and distribution lineman, and underground cable trenching and jointing, reports Kuensel Online.
According to the labour ministry, the skills imparted through the courses are immediately required in the labour market, especially in organisations such as Bhutan Power Corporation (BPC) and Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC), and hydropower projects.
The trainees are both pre-service candidates with completed technical training and in-service candidates coming from BPC, Royal Body Guard (RBG), Department of National Property (DNP) as well as schools and private sectors.
