USA, Tennessee: A large transformer fire in downtown Nashville left thousands of residents without power and damaged cars that were parked nearby.

The firefighters at the scene had to allow the fire to burn until the Nashville Electric Service was able to shut off power to the transformer, reports News Channel 5.

The fire temporarily cut power to more than 5,000 NES customers as well as several traffic lights.

There were no injuries reported.
