Egypt: XD EGMAC Company is set to complete the construction of seven transformer substations within two months at a cost of $37 million, reports Daily News Egypt.
The 220 kV substations are being set up in Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, South Tanta, Maasara, Ebny Beitak, Zizinia, and Nargis.
These projects are part of the plan of the Ministry of Electricity to expand the national electric grid and develop it to accommodate the energy that will be added from the new power plants.
Within the plan, substations will be established to transmit 10,000 MVA at 220 kV with a line of 5,500 km. The energy plan also includes transmission substations with a capacity of 2,700 MVA at 500 kV and linking lines of 870 km, as well as more substations able to transmit 12,000 MVA of electricity at 66 kV over a line extending over 5,600 km.
