UK energy company completes $30.6M substation project

UK, North West England: SP Energy Networks has completed a $30.6 million (£22 million) project to construct a major new substation in Cuerdley in Cheshire.

The new modern 132 kV substation, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, will boost the security of electricity supplies for more than 90,000 homes and businesses in Merseyside and Cheshire, reports Network.

The substation is fully enclosed to offer enhanced protection from the weather. It is located next to Fiddlers Ferry Power Station, on land previously owned by SSE.
