Indian transformer manufacturing company PME Power Solutions India Limited is planning to establish a manufacturing base in Zambia to service the country and the region.
According to PME Power Solutions Chairman, Anil Aggarwal, the manufacturing plant in Zambia will make energy-efficient transformers and create over 6,000 jobs, reports Lusaka Times.
Zambia’s High Commissioner to India, Judith Kapijimpanga, said investing in Zambia will not only create jobs but contribute to foreign exchange earnings through export of transformers.
She also noted such investment will add value to copper production in the country, as copper windings are one of the key components in the production of transformers.
