UK, Jersey: A new £17 million substation being built in St Helier, Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands in the English Channel, is making progress.
While the main building of the substation has been completed, Jersey Electricity is now working on installing the equipment inside it. The next big step will be the delivery of the transformers from Italy.
The transformers are currently under construction and once installed, the installation of high voltage and auxiliary equipment will continue inside the substation.
The project was approved in 2014 and, once completed, it will serve around 70 to 80% of St Helier’s residents.
