Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur: SGB MY Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian subsidiary of the Germany-based SGB SMIT Group will start manufacturing transformers with aluminium windings, expecting this product to make an impact on Malaysia’s export markets.
Managing director Franz Hierz said the company is expecting its aluminium transformer to be widely accepted in other countries in this region, the Indian sub-continents, Australia and the Middle East, reports New Straits Times.
"Aluminium has been used to replace copper, thus offering customers a more viable option due to the significant cost advantage it offers as compared to copper,” says Hierz.
The Malaysian factory currently manufactures and sells oil distribution, cast resin, and power transformers.
