The power transmission and distribution division of an Indian company Sterling and Wilson is executing a T&D project for PGCIL in north-eastern India.
As part of the North Eastern Region System Strengthening Scheme, the company is building and expanding a number of 400 kV substations in the states of Manipur, Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, etc., reports T&D India.
Due to the difficult terrain in the north-east, there have been logistical challenges during the shipment of large 500 MVA power transformers to site across long distances.
The project worth $35 million is scheduled for completion within 2018.
