Substation out after transformer explodes in Komani

South Africa, Eastern Cape: A substation in Ebden Street in the city of Komani blew after a power transformer exploded, which will likely leave Komani residents without electricity for more than three days.

According to officials, the transformer exploded after they tried to switch on the Queendustria substation which tripped earlier on, reports Dispatch Live.

Enoch Mgijima municipality spokesman said the circuit breaker has tripped due to power overloading.

The crews are investigating the matter.
