Entergy Arkansas is proposing to build a 500 kV substation and 33-mile transmission line in portions of Saline, Hot Spring, Pulaski and Garland counties in Arkansas.
The estimated cost of the project is about $170 million, reports Northwest Arkansas.
According to Entergy spokesman, the transmission line and new substation are necessary as the existing infrastructure does not meet the required voltage levels.
The transmission line is proposed to run between a new 500 kV Happy Valley Substation in northeastern Saline County and the existing Hot Springs substation near Jones Mill in Hot Spring County.
