Avangrid investing $2.5B in making the power infrastructure more resilient

USA: Avangrid, a US-based energy company and Iberdrola subsidiary plans an investment of about $2.5 billion through the next ten years with an aim to strengthen its power grid and make its overall power infrastructure more resilient to severe storms.

The company said it has developed a comprehensive and robust resiliency plan called Transforming Energy, which will cover Avangrid Networks companies such as NYSEG, RG&E, and Central Maine Power, reports Compelo.

The extent and scope of hardening and remediation efforts will vary for each company based on its specific requirements and criteria.

Transforming Energy plan includes steps to be taken to make the power grid capable of better withstanding storms and also for using technology to help customers manage their energy consumption in a better way.
