USA, Tennessee: Cookeville Electric Department's newest 72-ton power transformer has successfully arrived at Cookeville's east substation.

A 72-ton piece of equipment that is expected to provide electricity to thousands of Cookeville Electric Department customers for many years to come arrived Wednesday.

The new power transformer was one of two ordered last year after the current nearly 70-year-old transformer failed at the city's east substation, reports Herald-Citizen.

The two new power transformers have been built by Waukesha in its Goldsboro plant, North Carolina, and it took two to three days and multiple trailers to move the 72-ton transformer from the plant to Cookeville.

The first unit is expected to be energized by mid-August, which is also the time when the second power transformer is scheduled to arrive.
