Nigeria, Yobe State: The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has energised a new 330/132 kV substation in Damaturu, Yobe State.

The new substation with 150 MVA 330/132 kV and 60 MVA 132/33 kV power transformers is expected to greatly improve the electricity supply to customers of Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), reports The Tide.

The contract for the substation was awarded to a local contractor in 2006 but the project suffered extreme delays due to the poor capacity. Two months ago, the project was handed over to TCN for completion.
