Jharkhand secures loan for $465M transmission project

India, Jharkhand: The state-owned utility Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam (JBVNL) has been granted a loan of $310 million from the World Bank for the implementation of its new $465.2 million transmission project known as Jharkhand Power System Improvement Project.

Under the Jharkhand Power System Improvement Project, new power transmission infrastructure will be constructed, including new substations and transmission lines, mainly at the voltage level of 132 kV, reports Compelo.

The goal of the Jharkhand transmission project is to expand electricity transmission capacity in the state as well as to strengthen the institutional capacity of state-owned power transmission and distribution utilities.
