Zimbabwe requires $1.2 billion to finance new power projects and repair ageing infrastructure, according to the report by the African Development Bank (AfDB).

According to the bank's 2018 Infrastructure Report on Zimbabwe, the required funding arrangements include $442 million for transmission projects, $42 million for distribution projects, and $629 million for new projects as well as Batoka Hydro and Hwange expansion, reports Bulawayo.

Five of the country’s power stations have passed their lifetime of 25 years, and inadequate maintenance has left them dilapidated and unable to generate electricity at their capacity, the bank noted in the report.
