South Africa: A large portion of Pretoria was plunged into darkness on Tuesday morning, disrupting the morning commute and infuriating residents.
The municipality said the cause of the outage was a power trip at the Njala substation. Residents said it sounded like a "loud pop".
The power outage has wreaked havoc on the daily commute, leading to major congestion on all roads in Pretoria East. Traffic lights are not functional and, as such, motorists are advised to treat all intersections as four-way stops.
The City of Tshwane has urged all commuters to travel with caution.
