Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. scored a loss and a win in a pair of legal challenges to U.S. duty levels on South Korean power transformers.
The Commerce Department has conducted several periodic reviews of these duties. In one covering imports that entered the U.S. between August 2014 and July 2015, Commerce hit Hyundai with a dumping margin of 60.81%.
The U.S. maintains antidumping duties on large power transformers imports in 2014-2015, used in high-voltage electrical power transmission systems, but Commerce must reconsider 2015-2016 duties.
The U.S. imported nearly $226 million worth of these transformers from South Korea in 2017.
