The National Electricity Corporation (Corpoelec) in partnershp with the Anzoategui government started with the construction of the mobile 42 MVA substation Santa Rosa, located in Madre Vieja de Lecheria near Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela.
The new substation will relieve some of the pressure coming from the interconnected systems of the energy conversion facilities in Lecheria, Tronconal and Cuartel, where substations produce electricity for Barcelona and Lecheria.
The latest generation power equipment was donated by Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) and built by ABB with the investment of $ 2.9 million.
The Deputy Commissioner of CORPOELEC Transmission Center in Anzoategui, Marlos Useche, said that after the first phase of setting up a mobile transformer, the company can proceed with the construction of the substation itself in Madre Vieja area.
Another 42 MVA mobile unit is being temporarily installed in El Esfuerzo de San Jose de Guanipa replacing a recently damaged 20 MVA transformer. This will enable CORPOELEC staff to proceed with the installation of the new 36 MVA transformer which will continue to operate at the facility on completion of the project.
