India, Hyderabad: BHEL has commissioned its first phase-shifting transformer at Kothagudem Thermal Power Station in Telangana.
The new generation transformer will be used to control power flow between 400 kV and 220 kV networks. BHEL sees this as an opportunity to open up a new line of business. The new transformers have been manufactured at the BHEL Bhopal unit.
BHEL's Bhopal plant has the capacity to produce power transformers of 30,000 MVA per annum, reports Business Line. Telangana State Power Generation Corporation (TSPGCL) had placed an order with BHEL for the country’s first phase shifting transformer.
